Text-to-donate is a quick and easy way to donate to Butterwick Hospice Care to support our vital services.
What you are charged and what Butterwick will receive
For donation texts, you will be charged the amount of the donation plus the standard text message rate specified by your network provider. Butterwick receives 100% per £1 donated in this way.
The standard network charge for text messages is at your network provider’s rates. If the keyword or short code you text is incorrect, you may still be charged a message at your standard network rate. However you won’t be charged by us for the donation as you won’t be donating to Butterwick Hospice Care.
There is no limit on the number of times you may make a donation via text but there is a daily limit of £30 on text donations. You will not be able to donate more by text from the same number on the same day, but you may still incur your standard network message charge if you try.
How will my donation be used?
We rely on donations for around 70% of our income, and your money will help us to provide a variety of services that help those with life limiting illness and their loved ones. Find out more about what we do, or see a detailed breakdown of how we’ve spent our income in our Annual Report.
Where and what devices can text-to-donate to be used?
Please note that you can donate from a UK mobile only. You cannot donate using this service from a Channel Islands, Isle of Man or other non-UK mobile. If you donate using this service from a UK mobile outside England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you may incur additional network charges.
Who can use Text-to-donate?
You must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text message. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent or guardian’s permission to send a text donation to Butterwick.
Your data will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will only be used to keep you informed about our fundraising, activities, events and services – should you have opted in for us to do so. Your details will be kept securely and only shared with our suppliers or partners who work either on our behalf or with us to deliver and improve services for people affected by life limiting illness and their loved ones. We never sell or swap your details with third parties.
Your donation may be eligible for Gift Aid. We may contact you on the mobile number you used to give you the opportunity to add Gift Aid to your donation. We may also send you a link to webpage where you submit your details, however, please note that as with any mobile browsing, you may incur charges from your network provider. If we ask you to text us details for Gift Aid, then a standard text message fee will be incurred.
