Butterwick House Hospice
Butterwick House offers a very warm welcome to babies, children, teenagers, young adults and their families. Most of the children and young people who come to Butterwick House need round the clock care – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Some children and young adults come for the day, many come for a short break either by themselves or with their family.
Butterwick House offers a bright and happy environment where the children and their families can make the most of every moment. We believe every moment counts and families need support so they can make the most of their time together. There are lots of fun things for children and young people to do here such as playing games, using specialist computers and enjoying arts and crafts. Young people can just chill out, perhaps in the multi-sensory room or our sensory garden or, for more excitement, they can go on trips on our specially adapted bus.
The care team is comprised of Registered Sick Children’s Nurses (RSCNs), Registered Learning Disability Nurses (RNLD’s) nursery nurses, health care assistants and trained volunteers. They are here to make sure our young visitors are well cared for, feel happy, safe, are listened to and have fun.
Butterwick House supports the whole family and that includes everyone. Mums, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Carers are all welcome to come to the hospice if they need support or to see what fun the children are having when they come to stay.
Please note to access care from Butterwick Hospice a referral should be made by a a medical professional. For details of the referral criteria and process please get in touch.
Butterwick House is a registered charity like all children’s hospices, and relies on public support.
