Turner and Townsend Volunteers Help Out
Staff from cost management specialist Turner and Townsend of Thornaby donated their time and energy to Butterwick Hospice over two days this month to help brighten up the surroundings.
They have lent their hands to improving the decoration around the building by painting external doors and have re-varnished the garden furniture in the internal garden where patients, families and staff enjoy sitting.
Area Manager, Chris Wray said: "Every member of staff gets a CSR day when they can chose to help out somewhere. We decided initially we wanted to help a local charity and Butterwick Hospice was the charity of choice. It's on our doorstep and cares for the people where we live and work.
We have been coming to Butterwick for over 4 years now and the teams who help out always seem to enjoy what they do and feel their efforts are worthwhile. Some people choose to come back to Butterwick year on year.
We have had 8 people volunteer this year over the course of two weeks. We have tidied the gardens of the In-patient Unit and have carried out external decorations on some of the doors and have varnished the garden furniture. It is good to carry out this kind of volunteering work where you can see the difference you have made at the end of the day."
Fiona Wagner, Head of Non Clinical Services for Butterwick Hospice said: "We have seen a big difference around the buildings at the Stockton Hospice and are very grateful to Chris and the staff at Turner and Townsend for their continued support. We have a small maintenance team here and a large amount of maintenance to carry out so having this support each year is much appreciated. The team have done a super job."
