Company celebrates successful date with North-East hospice
A north-east hospice is the ‘flavour of the month’ with a local businessman after his support of the charity helped him to win new business.
Matthew Lee, who runs Glasper Lee Design Ltd, at Bishop Auckland, decided to support the Butterwick Hospice by sponsoring ‘April’ in the charity’s 2020 calendar.
It followed an appeal to local companies to support the hospice at a meeting of a local Business Network International (BNI).
And now, the architectural services business has won a contract to build a large extension and renovation for a bungalow thanks to the exposure in the calendar.
Matthew said: “The first priority in sponsoring the calendar was to support a fantastic local charity, but to also get some new business out of it makes it even more worthwhile.”
The company is based in Bishop Auckland and the Butterwick is celebrating an important milestone, with the opening of the hospice in the town’s Woodhouse Close 25 years ago.
Glasper Lee Design, which was established in September 2018, also sponsored the charity’s Christmas card design last year.
Matthew added: “I’ve been lucky not to have had to use the Butterwick’s brilliant services for any of my loved ones but it’s a massive relief to know they are there if we ever need them.
“These are hard times for all charities and the Butterwick is so important to the local community. My message to businesses is to do what you can to support the hospice because it needs your help more than ever.”
Butterwick Hospice Care has launched a 25th anniversary appeal. An anniversary gift of £25 would fund a counselling session for a bereaved family member, or a home care visit. To make a donation, go to www.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/bishopauckland25
