About Volunteering with us

Volunteers say they develop confidence and new skills or can put their experience to good use. Volunteers support almost every department at Butterwick Hospice Care. We could not acheive what we do without the help of our volunteers.

People of all ages and walks of life come on board as volunteers. For most roles no previous experience or skills are required as we provide training and support wherever needed. Many of our volunteers tell us that volunteering at Butterwick Hospice Care has given them a great confidence boost and that they have made some great new friends.

Why Volunteer?

As well as helping Butterwick Hospice Care, volunteers benefit too.

Our volunteers give their time for a number of reasons from wanting to put their spare time to good use, build confidence, companionship or gaining experience and developing their new skills to help secure employment or a university place.

Stepping into an organisation can be daunting but volunteers tell us that volunteering with us has really improved their self-confidence, team working and social skills.

Those seeking paid work say that they now have something great to put on their CV or university application. Volunteering can impress as it shows that you are responsible, committed and that you care.

Whatever your working or life experience, you will find your individual talents will be put to good use, respected and valued here at Butterwick.

What does Volunteering Involve?

Most of our volunteer roles do not require any previous skills, qualifications or experience.  We will provide training where applicable and we will support you every step of the way.  Some volunteers want to use their existing experience and others want to try something completely different.

Volunteers usually commit to a few hours a week.  For those with a little less time to spare commitment can sometimes be just once a month if helping say our fundraising team.
