The Hospice has a large day room which has its own
kitchen facilities where children can bake if they wish. There is a large selection of play equipment, computers and a large screen TV where the children can watch their favourite movies or play computer games.
There is a multi-sensory room equipped with a wide array of specialist lighting that helps the staff to stimulate and relax young patients. This is a very popular facility which the children enjoy a great deal.
Our special hydrotherapy pool is a big hit with children and parents alike. The warm temperature of the water and the shallow pools give parents the opportunity to spend time in the pool with their children. The Hospice has a qualified physiotherapist who can advise nurses and parents how to help the children relax their muscles through gentle exercises in the warm water.
Our sensory garden was created by B & Q during GMTV's Get Up and Give Week some years ago and has been a popular attraction ever since. It is tended regularly to keep it looking its best and is full of plants to stimulate the senses.
The wheel chair swing is a favourite with many of the children. This very special swing holds the child's wheelchair securely while the child enjoys the sensation of being on a swing. .jpg)
The craft room in Butterwick House is very popular with many patients. It is fully stocked with lots of materials to encourage patients to create pictures and craft works during their stay which they can then take home with them.
Butterwick House offers accommodation for families that want to stay with their child. We have two bright bedrooms and a sitting room on the upper floor where parents can relax while their child is being cared for by nursing staff.
Butterwick also has two fully equipped sunshine coaches which are used regularly to take the children on the outings of their choice.
