The Care Team is led by the Director of Clinical Services who oversees the care provided to patients across the three Butterwick Hospices. Within the Children's Hospice the Director is assisted by the Children's Clinical Lead.

Children can be very creative during their stayWithin the Care Team are 9 qualified and experienced sick children's nurses, 4 nursery nurses, 5 health care assistants a part time physiotherapist and 3 regular volunteers.

They are assisted by the Family Support Team including our Child and Adult Counsellor and Complementary Therapists.

Medical cover is provided by the Butterwick Hospice Medical Team. A Paediatric Associate Specialist spends 2 sessions per month in the unit and a Consultant Paediatrician visits the unit to provide educational and specialist advisory input.

The Paediatric Department at North tees Hospital, which is in close proximity, provides emergency back-up.

These people work in partnership with the family or carers of each child and between them make up the 'care team' for the children who spend time at Butterwick House.

A key worker is assigned to each family who keeps in regular contact in between the child's visits to Butterwick House.

One to one care is provided at Butterwick HouseOther members of the Children's Hospice care team include our Chef and kitchen staff who prepare all the meals and snacks and our housekeeping staff who keep everything clean and tidy.

Our fundraising team is busy every day planning events, giving talks and attending events held on behalf of the children's hospice. They visit schools, companies, groups, pubs and social clubs, sports clubs and individuals to help people learn about the care provided and why it is vitally important to the families using the service.

If you would like a children's hospice fundraiser to visit to talk to you about how you could support Butterwick House please contact Jess, Children's Fundraising Administrator on 01642 628930. She will ensure the right person gets in touch with you to discuss your ideas and put the right support in place for you.

Butterwick House needs to raise over £880,000 each year to provide its services free of charge to children and their families. Over three quarters of that money comes from people in the communities we serve, who take the time and put in the effort to raise money for Butterwick House.

Every donation, whether large or small is very important to us and much appreciated. Every penny helps us to provide a better environment for the children in our care and greater support for their families.

The atmosphere in the children's unit is very welcoming and child friendly. The emphasis is on enriching the children's lives whilst we care for their needs and on supporting the family members as much as possible.

We try always to cater to the wishes of the children and to create a lot of fun and happy memories for each child. Where possible we like children of similar age groups to stay here together so they can form friendships and enjoy similar pastimes.

Butterwick House also provides a Sibling Support Group which concentrates on the needs of our young patients brothers and sisters. You can learn more about the Sibling Support Group here.
