This is a specialist support service from Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland that helps patients with heart failure and their carers. It is provided in partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS.
Heart disease affects more than 1.6 million people in the UK. Lifestyle changes and taking regular exercise have been shown to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.
This group aims to offer patients lifestyle advice, gentle exercise, support and access to aromatherapy to help them cope with their disease and symptoms.
Structured educational sessions help patients and their families to understand their illness and the benefits certain treatments and lifestyle changes bring.
This is the latest service developed by Butterwick Hospice in partnership with colleagues within County Durham and Darlington NHS. It has proved to be very popular with patients and is another example of Butterwick delivering valuable services to non cancer patients.
For more information about the service please request our leaflet on the Heart Failure Support Group or please contact Paula Wood, the Registered Manager, at Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland on 01388 603003 or email paulawood@butterwick.org.uk
