Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland Overview

A brief overview of the services delivered and managed from our Hospice in Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

Butterwick Hospice at Bishop AucklandButterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland provides many services to communities around the Durham Dales and Sedgefield areas including day care, palliative home care, outreach day hospices and services to heart failure and neurological patients.

The services at our Bishop Auckland hospice are always developing in relation to the needs of the communities Butterwick serves.

We were recently able to refurbish the third wing which had been derelict and unused for the whole 15 years we have been in this building because we had not had sufficient capital to develop it. However, a grant application made to the Department of Health for £400,000 was approved and sanctioned by the Government.

The work on the development of the wing was completed in April 2011 to create the Butterwick Outpatient Support Services department. This new development will, once again, increase the number of patients and carers that the Hospice can help.
