Butterwick Stories

We would like to share the story of Rachael Welby & her son James Marshall who sadly passed away in 2012. Rachael's story was spotted on social media and our marketing team contacted her to seek permission to share her story with the world.

Rachael messaged us saying

“James loved his respite days at Butterwick and we are so grateful for our ‘time off’ and the support from all the staff. He laid in rest at Butterwick which allowed us to spend one last birthday with him. He died on May 29th 2012 His 11th birthday was June 10th and his funeral was held the day after. I raised money for Butterwick that year by running the Great North Run.”

Rachael had raised for the Butterwick, a staggering £3,020 ! The picture below shows James and his sister ‘Katie’ six weeks before James passed away.

We would like to say a special thank you to Rachael for sharing her story with us and allowing us to share it with everyone else.

With Love and thoughts,

The Butterwick Team
