Individual Care and Comfort in a Homely Environment
Butterwick is based in the north east of England and has three hospices, two adult hospices in Stockton on Tees and Bishop Auckland and one children's hospice, Butterwick House, also in Stockton on Tees.
A wide variety of services are provided both within and from each hospice and out into the communities they serve. For more information on these services please click onto the Our Hospices section of this site.
Butterwick provides specialist palliative care to children and adults with life limiting illnesses and provides that care in a friendly and homely environment.
The aim of Butterwick Hospice Care is to improve the quality of life for our patients and their families and to help them relate positively to every challenge they may encounter during their illness. We aim to help people see death as a part of life's journey.
We provide holistic centred care and respond to and respect the patients' and families' individual physical, social, cultural, educational, spiritual and emotional needs throughout the illness and bereavement.
It is our aim to acknowledge and respect the way each family cares for their relative and we endeavour to continue that chosen pattern of care. We work together to develop an environment based on support and mutual respect.
We reflect on our experiences of care in order to improve the quality of our service and welcome suggestions and guidance from our patients and families to help us achieve the highest standards possible.
Butterwick works together with other service providers to ensure continuity of care is provided.
